Visualize Your Career in Art Direction, Design, or New Media

Our program caters to your career interests by offering three emphasis options: art direction, new media, and design. With a faculty-student ratio of 14-1, you’ll work closely with distinguished professionals in the advertising industry.

Immerse yourself in the creative processes and business practices of large agencies, animation, post-op houses, and small and large design studios. You’ll study typography, graphic design, art direction, illustration, animation, and the application of new technologies.

  • Lee Hackett: Director of Visual Communication and Assistant Professor

    Lee also directs the award-winning VisCom program at A&M-Commerce. During her tenure, the program has adopted successful processes that give students an edge in the job market, including portfolio development and curated course rotations. The VisCom program stays current by employing evaluation standards that are consistent with industry expectations. Students regularly participate in and receive honors at national and international juried shows.

  • Josh Ege: Professor of Visual Communication

    This is the perfect time to level up your knowledge, experience and education. Be willing to take chances while you learn. A&M Commerce is a great place to do it. We provide an environment that allows you to express your creativity in meaningful ways. In Visual Communication, we will guide you to build an inspiring portfolio focused on conceptual thinking and put you in the position to start your career as a Graphic Designer, Art Director or Motion Designer. You might even win a few awards along the way.

  • Casey McGarr: Professor of Visual Communication

    Casey is a Professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce, teaching in the Visual Communication Program in Dallas. He teaches undergraduate Typography, Design 1 and Letterpress printing. He also teaches in the MFA Graduate Program, which includes Pedagogy and Design Education, Design Teaching Environment and Thesis Exhibition.

  • Veronica Vaughan: MFA Coordinator, Assistant Professor of Visual Communication

    Veronica Vaughan brings 20+ years of graphic design and art direction experience to the classroom. She has a diverse background in graphic design, art direction, and letterpress.
